Dear Friends of the Symphony:

Please join us as we celebrate the 2026–2027 season of the Big Spring Symphony Orchestra! This season, entitled “A Night Out with the Symphony,” invites audiences to experience four unforgettable evenings of music, entertainment, and shared experiences.

Under the leadership of Music Director Dr. Fagner Magrinelli Rocha, the Big Spring Symphony continues its commitment to bringing outstanding orchestral performances, world-class guest artists, and unique musical experiences to our community. Whether it is a date night, a family outing, an evening with friends, or a special celebration, each concert offers a different destination and a new reason to enjoy a night out with the symphony.

We are excited to begin this season on September 12, 2026, with “A Night Out in Vienna.” Travel with us to the musical capital of Europe for an elegant evening celebrating the brilliance and sophistication of the Classical era. Featuring music by three of Vienna’s most influential composers, this concert highlights the charm, artistry, and innovation that made the city the center of the musical world.

The evening will feature the extraordinary talents of the Bergonzi Trio—John Gilbert, violin; George Work, cello; and Richard Fountain, piano—in Ludwig van Beethoven’s magnificent Triple Concerto, one of the composer’s most unique works for soloists and orchestra. The program will also include Antonio Salieri’s La Fiera di Venezia and Joseph Haydn’s beloved Symphony No. 104 “London.” This elegant opening concert promises a memorable journey through the sounds of Vienna.

Our holiday tradition returns on December 19, 2026, with “A Night Out at the Ballet.” The Big Spring Symphony Orchestra once again joins forces with Ballet San Angelo for a full production of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s timeless masterpiece, The Nutcracker.

This beloved holiday classic brings Clara’s magical journey to life with enchanting music, breathtaking choreography, colorful costumes, and unforgettable characters. From the sparkling snow scene to the Kingdom of Sweets, The Nutcracker remains one of the world’s most cherished holiday traditions and is the perfect way to celebrate the season with family and friends.

On February 20, 2027, experience the excitement of “A Night Out at the Movies.” This unique concert event combines the magic of cinema with the power of live orchestral music. The Big Spring Symphony Orchestra will accompany Buster Keaton’s classic silent film One Week (1920) with specially arranged music, recreating the atmosphere and excitement of early cinema.

The evening will also feature pianist and composer Sergio Salani, whose music was featured in the film Texas Rhapsody, for which the Big Spring Symphony Orchestra recorded the original soundtrack. Mr. Salani will perform selections from the film score and present the world premiere of his First Piano Concerto. This unforgettable evening celebrates the connections between music, storytelling, and the silver screen.

Our season concludes on April 24, 2027, with “A Jazzy Night Out,” a thrilling collaboration between the Big Spring Symphony Orchestra and the West Texas Jazz Orchestra. The concert hall will transform into a vibrant jazz venue as we celebrate the rich traditions of jazz and big band music through symphonic arrangements of beloved classics.

Featuring swinging rhythms, lush orchestral colors, and virtuosic performances, this concert will showcase classic big band favorites, symphonic jazz works, and music inspired by the energy and creativity of jazz. It promises to be a spectacular finale to a season filled with variety, artistry, and unforgettable musical experiences.

We know this will be a season you will not want to miss as the Big Spring Symphony Orchestra continues to bring great music and extraordinary performances to Big Spring. Join us for “A Night Out with the Symphony” and make memories with friends, family, and your community.
