POSITION DETAILS: These positions are for the 2025–2026 season, with potential renewal. The season includes 5 concerts: Masterworks, Pops, Educational, and Community Series concerts, with approximately 15 services per season.
ONLINE SUBMISSION DEADLINE: August 10, 2025 (materials must be received by this date)
LIVE AUDITION DATES: Scheduled individually with candidates after August 15, 2025

CONCERTMASTER/PRINCIPAL 2ND VIOLIN
All Concertmaster auditions will be also considered for Principal 2nd Violin
ONLINE VIDEO AUDITION (Preliminary Round)
Submit links to videos containing:
- Solo work:
- One movement of an unaccompanied Bach work for solo violin
or
- Exposition from Mozart Violin Concerto (No. 3, 4, or 5) – accompaniment not required
- Excerpts (required): see PDFs below
- Strauss – Don Juan (First page)
- Mendelssohn – A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Scherzo (beginning to 7 after D)
- Brahms – Symphony No. 1, Mvt 2 (Concertmaster Solo)
LIVE AUDITION (Final Round – by Invitation Only)
Date: TBA, after August 15, 2025. Date will be arranged with finalists.
Finalists will perform the following:
- Romantic concerto exposition (maximum 8 minutes – applicant’s choice)
- Orchestral solos:
- Rimsky-Korsakov – Scheherazade concertmaster solos (Mvt. 1, 2 and 3)
- Mozart – Symphony No. 39, Mvt IV Finale (beginning through m. 40)
- Dvorak – Symphony No. 8 in G Major, Mvt. 2 concertmaster solo + tutti (letter D to E)

Principal Viola
ONLINE VIDEO AUDITION (Preliminary Round)
Submit links to videos containing:
- Solo work:
- One movement from a solo suite by J.S. Bach or Max Reger
- Excerpts (required):
- Berlioz – Roman Carnival Overture – pickup to 3 after rehearsal 1 through 1 measure after rehearsal 4.
- Puccini – Manon Lescaut Intermezzo solo – beginning until 14 after rehearsal 2
- Smetana – The Bartered Bride (Overture) – beginning until 5 measures after A
LIVE AUDITION (Final Round – by Invitation Only)
Date TBA, after August 15, 2025. Date will be arranged with finalists.
Finalists will perform the following:
- Concerto:
- Exposition from a standard viola concerto (e.g. Walton, Stamitz, Forsyth, Bartók, etc.) — 8 minutes
- Orchestral solos:
- Rossini – La Gazza Ladra Overture – Measure 62-159
- Richard Strauss – Don Quixote (viola solo) – Mvt. 2 Rehearsal 26-34
- Enescu: Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 – Solo – Rehearsal 7 until 8.

Bass Trombone
ONLINE VIDEO AUDITION

- One solo piece or concerto from the standard bass trombone repertoire (no accompaniment required)
- Excerpts (required):
- Berlioz – Hungarian March (from The Damnation of Faust) – Rehearsal 3 until 2 measure after 5
- Respighi – Fountains of Rome – pickup to 11 until 2 measures after 14.
- Wagner – Ride of the Valkyries (rehearsal 10-12)
